'West Papua Is Your Inconvenient Truth'

Click for big version.Today the Green Party hosted a protest outside the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Wellington. MP Catherine Delahunty led representatives from the Green Party and Mana Party in delivering a letter to the Embassy calling for an urgent peace process between the Indonesian Government and a movement towards self-determination for the people of West Papua.
The protesters gave an impassioned call for an end to colonial domination, comparing the current political situation to Apartheid South Africa and and the occupied Palestinian territories.

Catherine Delahunty said that she would be raising the West Papua issue in Parliament and urged other groups across New Zealand to lend their support. She called West Papua an 'inconvenient truth' for Indonesia and for the New Zealand government.
